WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30

PROGRAM #11284 12:00 PM PT

Falsehoods in the U.N. Speech.

Speaking before the United Nations, a forum created to prevent wars, President Trump threatened to annihilate Iran and use the full might of the U.S. military in Latin America. His address to the General Assembly was filled with false claims and misinformation about some of his recurring targets: immigrants, climate, the economy, and oil. A fact-checking expert examines the most consequential statements and separates what is true from what is false in this high-profile speech.

Guest: Alberto Andreo Sandoval, Writer/Proofreader-Fact-Checker, Factchequeado, Madrid, Spain.

Prop. 39 Heads to the Ballot. California voters will decide the fate of Proposition 39 in the November election. The measure would require voters to present an official ID at the polls. Republican lawmakers in Sacramento and the California Republican Party back Proposition 39. Opponents argue that it is another attempt by Trump-aligned groups to make voting more difficult.

Guest: David Trujillo, Executive Director, ACLU California Action, Sacramento, CA.

The Pulse of Latino Voters in California, Texas, and Florida. California and Texas are home to the country’s two largest Latino voter populations. With Election Day just weeks away, a new statewide survey of Latino voters in both states finds that major concerns — including artificial intelligence, data centers, voter ID, immigration enforcement, election security, and the economy — are emerging as key factors shaping their vote. Another new poll finds that Latino voters are moving away from Trump, reshaping the midterm map, threatening Republican control in Texas, and making Florida more competitive.

Guest: Kimberly Kilps-Ascencio, Expert Analyst on Latino Political Trends in California, Qualitative Research Manager, BSP Research, Los Angeles, CA.
