In this 30th anniversary edition, internationally-renowned accordion great Eva Ybarra, reflects on her decades-long career as a Tejano band leader and accordion virtuosa, a world dominated by male performers. Affectionately known as “The Queen of Accordion,” Eva has been recognized with the NEA’s National Heritage Fellowship, the nation’s highest honor in folk and traditional arts, and the Musician of the State of Texas award. This program includes excerpts of an archival interview from 1997. She also comments on her role as a headliner in the upcoming Tejano Conjunto Festival in San Antonio.
