Elections: The Eve

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3
PROGRAM #10946 12:00 PM PT
Elections: The Eve.
Millions have already voted, and millions more will head to the polls tomorrow for special and local elections across several states. The most closely watched races are in California, where Proposition 50 seeks an urgent redistricting, and in New York City, where a progressive candidate poised to redefine the Democratic Party is favored to win. The gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia are also in the national spotlight. What are the polls showing? Will these elections reveal the mood of U.S. voters ahead of the 2026 midterms? What scenarios lie ahead for the day after?
Guests: Ana Caballero, California State Senator (D-14), Sacramento, CA; Gonzalo Santos, Associate Professor Emeritus of Sociology, California State University-CSU Bakersfield, CA.
The Eve: Final Preparations. This is the last day to cast early ballots. Campaigns are making their final push to get out the vote as disinformation efforts intensify. Federal officials in Washington say they will monitor some elections, while certain states are moving to prevent federal interference. What are the final preparations underway? What kinds of disinformation should voters watch for? How might ICE raids, troop deployments, and the federal shutdown influence voter turnout and election outcomes?
Guest: Analilia Mejia, Co-Executive Director, Center for Popular Democracy, New York, NY.
