Deportation Protections Rescinded.

The U.S. Supreme Court issued two rulings in favor of the Trump administration and against the protection of hundreds of thousands of legal residents: Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, which will make it easier to turn away people fleeing persecution and seeking asylum, and Mullin v. Doe, which authorizes Trump to end Temporary Protected Status for Syrians and Haitians living in the United States. What will this mean for those affected and for other communities of legal residents with protected status?

The Supreme Court Upholds the Right to Citizenship by Birth. The Supreme Court of Justice ruled today on the case of citizenship by birth, finding unconstitutional a decree through which the U.S. president sought to end that right, which has been part of the Constitution for more than 150 years. Deaths in ICE Custody. Thirty immigrants have died in ICE custody so far in fiscal year 2026 — the highest figure since 2004. Since Trump’s return, the total has reached 50 deaths, with Mexicans making up the majority of victims, followed by Cubans, Hondurans, and Nicaraguans. Why are they dying?
