Day Laborers in the Crosshairs

By Radio Bilingüe

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
PROGRAM #10882 12:00 PM PT

Day Laborers in the Crosshairs.

Unions and workers across the country plan to take to the streets this Labor Day to protest the White House’s “pro-billionaire, anti-worker” agenda. Few workers have been as relentlessly targeted under this administration as day laborers who gather on street corners seeking jobs. Organizers speak out about the devastation caused by ICE raids on day laborers and their families. What is the actual toll of these raids? Are immigrant workers now more exposed to escalating abuses? How are unions responding? This Labor Day special also features a powerful lineup of songs of resistance by Los Jornaleros del Norte.

Guests: Manuel Vicente, Director, Radio Jornalera; Contributor, National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), Pasadena, CA; Nadia Marín, Worker Rights Program Coordinator, Attorney, NDLON, New York, NY; Omar León, vocalist, accordionist, pianist, and founder of Los Jornaleros del Norte, Los Angeles, CA; Gerardo Guzman, Reporter and Program co-Host, Atlanta, GA.
