TUESDAY, JUNE 23
PROGRAM #11180 12:00 PM PT

DACA: A Bittersweet Anniversary.

Fourteen years after DACA’s creation, immigrant youth, families, and advocates reflect on the impact of a program that has protected nearly one million people from deportation and allowed them to study, work, and contribute to the United States. But uncertainty persists. Now more than ever, DACA faces legal and political attacks that keep thousands of Dreamers in limbo. What are the main threats to DACA? How many have already been deported since Trump’s return? And what rights and protections do recipients still have?

Guest: Claudia Quiñónez, National Organizing Director, United We Dream, Washington, DC.

The Abuses During ‘Metro Surge.’ The unprecedented deployment of federal immigration forces in Minneapolis and St. Paul during Operation Metro Surge sowed terror and triggered a serious human rights crisis, as revealed by a new report, released at a moment when federal prosecutors are moving to charge 15 Minnesota residents. How can the wide and deep damage be remedied?

Guest: Francisco Segovia, Executive Director, COPAL MN, Minneapolis, MN.

ICE in the Stadiums? The World Cup has kicked off, and Houston is one of the host cities, but stadium workers face the real threat of ICE operations at their workplace and pressure to hand over private data that FIFA could share with federal agencies. Immigrant rights organizations are demanding that FIFA protect workers’ identities and refuse to cooperate with ICE, which has already confirmed its role in tournament security. What has happened in these first weeks of matches? Have operations been reported in surrounding areas? And how are immigrant workers in Houston organizing?

Guest: Susana Duran, Houston Organizing Manager, Workers Defense Action Fund, Houston, TX.
