Two years ago, Colorado passed a pioneering state law that seeks to prevent algorithmic bias in artificial intelligence systems considered “high risk.” Its implementation was delayed due to objections from tech companies and, more recently, the White House. However, the law will finally go into effect at the end of June. How did lawmakers overcome the obstacles? How will the measure benefit those seeking employment, access to credit, or housing?
