Under intense pressure to act before the House of Representatives gets a Republican majority in January, Democratic legislators and activists are mobilizing to pass a bill in December that would provide relief to Dreamers, TPS beneficiaries, and farm workers. To do this, Democrats need to win the support of ten Republican Senators in a matter of days. Although there is some optimism after a bipartisan measure was passed to protect gay marriages, immigration could be put on the back burner due to the urgency of avoiding a government shutdown.
