California Primary Eve

MONDAY, JUNE 1
PROGRAM #11156 11:00 AM PT
California Primary Eve.
California is the scene of a heated electoral battle for governor — and although the state is solidly Democratic, a Republican is emerging at the front of the pack. Eight congressional seats are also on the line, with the potential to shape the direction of the entire House. And while California is one of the few states to have passed laws protecting voter rights, few Latino voters are aware of those protections. In this program, civic leaders discuss the electoral climate and the challenges facing Latino voters. Additionally, the top official in charge of California’s election system discusses the safeguards voters should be aware of when heading to the polls, as well as new measures to ensure that every vote counts.
Guests: Ruben Tapia, News Producer, Radio Bilingüe, Los Angeles, CA; Cecilia Castro, Coordinator, United for the Valley Coalition, Bakersfield, CA; Luis Alvarado, Independent Analyst, Los Angeles, CA; Giselle Gasca, Western Regional Manager, Poder Latinx, Visalia, CA.
