California, Nevada, and the Fraud Myths

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17
PROGRAM #11174 12:00 PM PT
California, Nevada, and the Fraud Myths.
Voters in Nevada, South Carolina, and other states chose candidates for governor and Congress. In Nevada’s primaries, pro-Trump candidates prevailed by pushing the voter fraud narrative — including the Republican who will face Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto in November. In California, Democrat Xavier Becerra will face pro-MAGA candidate Steve Hilton in November, while progressive Democrat Randy Villegas could make history as the first Latino to represent the Central Valley in Congress if he unseats Republican David Valadao. These and more developments are discussed in this segment.
Cuba: The Declassified Documents, Part II. A researcher who uncovered declassified documents and reported from the trial of Cuban-American Posada Carriles — implicated in the bombing that killed 73 civilians aboard a Cuban airliner — draws contrasts with the case currently being pursued against figures from the island. He also weighs in on the “diplomacy of submission” that Trump and Marco Rubio are pursuing toward Cuba, and on the likely outcomes of the current crisis.
AI as Emotional Support? A Latina Shares Her Story. The use of artificial intelligence as a therapist is sparking growing debate in the medical community. More and more people prefer to open up to a machine rather than a professional. In the United States, Latinos lead this trend. One user explains why she feels more comfortable talking to a chatbot, while several professionals analyze the implications for mental health. This is a special report produced through the Ethnic Media Collaborative, with support from the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism.
