As the federal government steps back from climate and ocean protection policies, California is investing in the rapidly growing blue economy. This model seeks to balance economic growth with ocean health. A state university system and a scientific research institute at the Port of Los Angeles are joining forces to create jobs while protecting coastal and marine ecosystems.
