California Bets on the Blue Economy

THURSDAY, MARCH 5

PROGRAM #11069 11:00 AM PT

California Bets on the Blue Economy.

As the federal government steps back from climate and ocean protection policies, California is investing in the rapidly growing blue economy. This model seeks to balance economic growth with ocean health. A state university system and a scientific research institute at the Port of Los Angeles are joining forces to create jobs while protecting coastal and marine ecosystems. What does this “Blue Revolution” involve? How is California investing in the new economy? What role do scientists play? Are Latino communities at the table? This is a special program in the “Cuando se seca el arroyo” series, sponsored by the Walton Family Foundation.

Guest: Marce Gutiérrez-Graudin, Founder and Executive Director, Azul, San Francisco, CA.
