Brazil begins a presidential transition after the tightest election in the country’s democratic history, marred by disinformation campaigns and political violence. Now former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva faces a legacy of high unemployment, public debt and environmental disaster from far-right incumbent Jair Bolsonaro.
