Five Years After the El Paso Massacre, What Lessons Have We Learned? – On the fifth anniversary of the murder of 23 people, mostly Latinos, who were shopping at a megastore in El Paso, Texas, the hate speech that inspired the massacre by a young white nationalist still persists. On the Streets, Day Laborers Learn to Defend Their Rights – California is a sanctuary state that prohibits police collaboration with immigration agents, with some exceptions. This allows immigrant families to earn a living and pay taxes, even though, in some conservative counties, they face pressure when they seek employment on the streets. As we hear from Ruben Tapia, who was present at a session held in the small town of Eastvale in Riverside County, community organizers are visiting them to inform them of their rights.
