Art and the Culture of Tolerance

PROGRAM #11048 11:00 AM PT
Art and the Culture of Tolerance.
In a climate of political polarization and rising hate incidents and crimes in the United States, the Mobile Museum of Tolerance is visiting Roosevelt High School in Fresno, California, as part of its traveling classroom initiative, using the lessons of history to inspire students and promote a culture of tolerance. A museum representative speaks about this educational effort. Local artists also discuss: how can education and the arts world help challenge racial prejudice and confront a culture of hate and violence? This is a special program in our arts series “De Fresno, con Amor y Arte”.
Guests: Cecilia Mejia, Education Associate, Mobile Museum of Tolerance, Los Angeles, CA; Rosa Gamez, Spanish Language and Culture AP Teacher, and Latinx Student Union Advisor, Bullard High School, Fresno, CA; Romina Rodriguez, Sydney Shepherd and Camila Cornejo, Students at Bullard High School, Fresno, CA; Arianna Paz Chávez, Executive Director, Arte Américas, Fresno, CA; Daniela Rodriguez, Reporter at Radio Bilingüe, UC Berkeley Fellow, Fresno, CA.
