Bukele Deepens Commitment to Trump’s Deportation Plan – Defying court orders, President Trump is continuing to send immigrants labeled as criminals to a “mega prison” in El Salvador without due process. During a visit to the White House, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele refused to release a man who was imprisoned by mistake and also reaffirmed his commitment to build more prisons. Gerardo Guzmán spoke with Salvadoran journalist Leonel Herrera about this and more.

Texas Governor Sued to Pay Damages from Operation Lone Star – After an area of the border town of Eagle Pass, Texas, was occupied by the military for more than a year to stop immigrants from crossing, a popular local park has finally reopened to the public. Outraged residents who rejected the occupation from the outset are now demanding that Republican Governor Greg Abbott pay for the damage caused to the park as well as the local economy, which is estimated at several million dollars. Mexico, a Haven for Immigrants Fleeing Persecution in the United States – Faced with the Trump administration’s increasing harassment of immigrants, thousands of people who planned to come to the United States are choosing to stay in Mexico. Some are doing so temporarily. Meanwhile, others insist on continuing their journey despite the risks and the possibility of great hardship. Although those who stay in Mexico expect to earn less, they are opting for stability, according to Citlali Sáenz reporting from Mexico City.
