Las Cafeteras, the iconic band from East Los Angeles, presents their third studio album, A Night in Nepantla — a fusion of traditional Mexican folk music and electronic beats that speaks of love, nostalgia, and the struggles facing their communities. Today, as Latino identity and resistance are on the front lines, Las Cafeteras are heading out on a national tour with a sound that crosses borders. What stories do their songs tell?

La Marisoul and Los Texmaniacs. Eva Marisol Hernández, known as La Marisoul of the group La Santa Cecilia, was born in the heart of Los Angeles and grew up between two worlds: US pop culture and traditional Mexican folk music. Her voice moves through bolero, jazz, rock, and traditional song — and with a bossa nova rhythm, she turned the drama of immigrant families into an anthem: “El Hielo – ICE.” At a moment when Latino identity is at the centre of the national debate, Max Baca, founder and leader of the Texan conjunto band Los Texmaniacs, talks about the work he has been doing in collaboration with La Marisoul to bring to life these songs born of everyday struggles.
