30 Years 30 Voices: Reaching for the Stars.
Dr. José Hernández, who rose from migrant farmworker to NASA astronaut, and his father, retired farmworker Salvador Hernández, received the highest honor from California State University, Stanislaus. Awarded honorary doctorates, this Central Valley campus celebrates their journeys and the legacy of hard work, education, and perseverance they represent for migrant families. They are now the first Latinos to receive honorary doctorates from this university. This program is part of a series celebrating Línea Abierta’s 30th anniversary.
