Sara Shakir has been a contributor to Radio Bilingüe since 2003, the year she started as a correspondent in Los Angeles, covering local culture and political news. Previously, she served as a volunteer news contributor at community radio station KPFK. Subsequently, she took charge of coordinating the news service production room in Fresno, California. In 2007, her work was recognized with the Rubén Salazar Award from the CCNMA, awarded for an outstanding radio story about groundwater contamination affecting local farmworker communities. Sara studied communications in Mexico City and graduated in Environmental Health Science from California State University, Fresno, an education that reflects her commitment to environmental and community journalism. Currently, she serves as a web content consultant for Radio Bilingüe.
