Josie Tizcareño Pereira

Network News Producer

Josie Tizcareño Pereira is a Journalist and Educator.

She joined Radio Bilingüe as its Network News Producer in June of 2023. She was born and raised in the Mexicali Valley, Baja California, Mexico. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo. She studied Pedagogy at the University of Nevada at Reno (UNR) and at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City. She is the mother of Natalie Nicole. She has seven sisters and five brothers.

Throughout her journalism career, Josie has worked as At-Large Editor at La Opinión Los Angeles; Editor of The Salt Lake Tribune’s Ahora Utah newspaper; Managing Editor and Co-Founder of The Ventura County Star’s Mi Estrella del Condado de Ventura newspaper; and Web Content Editor at Hispanic Business and SúperOnda national magazines. Additionally, she hosted and co-produced her own radio show, "Utah en Movimiento", at KBJA-Súper 1640 AM in South Jordan, Utah, where she also produced a series of radio spots on California news.

In January of 2011, Josie was elected as the Co-Founding President of the Utah Association of Latino Journalists (UALJ). She has also been a member of the CCNMA: Latino Journalists of California and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).

From 2014 to 2023, she taught Dual Language Immersion-DLI classes in grades K-12 with teacher certification granted by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE), in Salt Lake City.
