TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18

PROGRAM #10961 11:00 PM PT

Colorado River: Water Crisis and Stalled Negotiations.

The future of the Colorado River — a lifeline for tens of millions of people — has reached a critical point due to overuse and climate change. The seven basin states failed to submit a joint plan for dividing the river’s water after 2026, missing the federal deadline. What does this mean for the communities that rely on the river? What is at the core of the dispute? Why is an agreement so urgent? What scenarios lie ahead? This is a special program of the series Cuando se seca el arroyo.

Guests: Daniela Zavala, Communications Director, Hispanics Enjoying Camping, Hunting and the Outdoors-HECHO, Scottsdale, AZ; Jeronimo Vasquez, Supervisor, Coconino County and Member, HECHO’s Hispanic Conservation Leadership Council, Flagstaff, AZ; Samuel Sandoval Solís, Professor and cooperative extension specialist, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of California Davis/UC Davis and Faculty expert, UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute, Davis, CA.
