Mexicans Reinvent the Celebration of Fiestas Patrias

Despite caution due to threats of immigration raids, many cities in the United States are celebrating the anniversary of Mexico’s independence. Although some celebrations have been canceled, others have been modified by organizers, changing the dates and locations of parades and El Grito ceremonies. Attendees, organizers, and promoters of these events recognize the great challenge that celebrating this popular tradition represents today. Gerardo Guzmán spoke with some of them and brings us this report from Atlanta.
