TUESDAY, APRIL 7
PROGRAM #11102 12:00 PM PT

Broken Families.

The human impact of immigration policy is measured in separated families. Arrests of immigrant parents with U.S. citizen children have doubled since Trump returned to power. In just seven months, at least 11,000 children have seen a parent detained, according to a journalistic analysis. What happens to these children? How do affected families live through this rupture? What social support is available to them?

Guest: Mario Ariza, Reporter, ProPublica, Philadelphia, PA.

CBP One Restored. A federal judge ordered the reinstatement of parole status for migrants who entered legally through the CBP One app, implemented during the Biden administration, after ruling that its mass revocation was unlawful. Migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, and Haiti are among the main beneficiaries. What did the judge rule? How is the measure being applied now? What happens to those who were already deported despite having protections?

Guest: Michael Martínez, Senior Counsel, Democracy Forward, Washington, DC.

Immigrant Truckers Could Lose Licenses. Around 200,000 immigrant truck drivers could lose their commercial licenses as new rules take effect, requiring them to speak, read, and understand English. Many fear being disqualified at inspection checkpoints. What are the broader implications of these measures? What can drivers at risk do?

Guest: Natasha Cruz-Sánchez, Member, Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association-OOIDA, Houston, TX.
