A week after the start of the fires in Southern California, the causes of the five fires, Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, Kenneth and Hollywood Hills, remain under investigation, but progress has been made in containing the fires.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire, has reported that progress has been made in containing wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

The Palisades Fire is 14% contained, the Eaton Fire is 33% contained, and the Hurst Fire is 95% contained.

Keep in mind that these numbers change as fire suppression efforts progress and weather forecasts predict that the Santa Ana winds that have spread the fires will continue to threaten.

In addition, official figures report that so far, at least 24 people have died as a result of the fires in LA County, California, however, this number could increase due to the fact that 23 people are reported missing.

Evacuation orders are still in effect for 92,000 people living in Los Angeles, but 89,000 more have been warned to be ready to evacuate if necessary.

The South Coast Air Quality Management issued an advisory that runs through Tuesday warning that smoke and ash could disperse with another wave of strong Santa Ana winds sweeping through the area.

One of the information updates Erik Hernandez, spokesman for the Napa Fire Department, indicated that in the case of the Eaton Fire, containment has advanced.
He indicates that they are also searching for missing persons and also a tour of the affected area.

The Napa Fire Department spokesman reminds us that we are still on alert and that is why it is important to follow the indications of the authorities, listen to Erik Hernandez.

Finally, the Federal Emergency Management Agency reported that, so far, it has received more than 16 thousand requests for assistance.

If you require assistance you can call the official FEMA hotline, its website or the application.
