Vulnerable Immigrants Prepare for Trump’s Second Term

In light of President-elect Donald Trump’s recent statements about mass deportations and now that he says he will not split up families but send them back to their countries, immigrant advocates and legal services are rushing to help immigrants deal with these threats.
With the goal of not creating fear but to inform and give some hope, organizations are holding workshops and counseling to empower immigrants.
Luz Gallegos, Executive Director of the legal center TODEC shares what are the fears and needs of the community in the face of this new reality. She also says that in the work and workshops they give to immigrants they have seen that children are worried about their parents.
That is why it is important to have the information, she emphasizes, because they should know that California has laws that protect them.
She emphasizes that as immigrants we are always vulnerable, that is why we must be prepared for a plan in case of deportation and know who is going to take care of their children and recalled that in California a law was passed that protects immigrants from raids.
She also provides recommendations in case of deportations or raids at work.
Finally, Luz Gallegos, Executive Director of the legal center TODEC said that it is necessary to know the laws and resist what may come with Trump’s second term.
