The economy influenced Latinos to vote for Trump
As of now, analysts and academics are trying to explain the behavior of the Latino electorate, which in many cities favored the Republican and had historically voted for Democrats.
Rodrigo Domínguez Villegas, research director of the Latino Policy Institute and director of the Latino Data Hub at the University of California at Los Angeles, acknowledges that the economic issue and the high inflation that hit the pockets of Latinos was one of the reasons for Trump’s victory and the Latino vote for the Republicans.
He also comments that in general they have realigned themselves in the country and moved towards the Republican philosophy.
Rodrigo Dominguez Villegas, points out that it takes time to analyze the Latino vote, because you have to understand the changes and consider data.
But he is certain that there were more Latino votes than in the last election.
He says that what is surprising is not only Trump’s triumph, but the change in participation.
The UCLA researcher says that it is necessary to continue to closely monitor the victories in Congress, for example, in the Senate in Arizona because a differentiated vote can be seen.
And there are other examples where in certain states, the electorate voted for abortion rights and in the federal for the presidency for Trump.
