Supporting Latino youth who are facing emotional crises.

Mental health is not exclusive to adults, as many children and youth face challenges of anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts, and cases are on the rise among Latino adolescents.

Recent studies reveal that more than half of adolescents and young adults have mental health problems, with 1 in 5 facing depression and 1 in 4 facing anxiety.

Dr. Regina Miranda, Professor of Psychology and Director of the Laboratory for the Study of Youth Cognition and Suicide, Hunter College; Professor of Health Psychology and Clinical Sciences, City University of New York-CUNY Graduate Center, comments on the mental health status of adolescents.

She recalls that a campaign called Escuchando Sentimientos (Listening to Feelings) has been launched, which seeks to help parents to support their children, since it is very important to be aware of the reality that our youngest loved ones are living.
