Prop 50 voting has begun in California

By Radio Bilingüe
Published October 20, 2025

California voters have begun voting in the special election, which will conclude on November 4th. This time, voters are called upon to decide the fate of Proposition 50, also known as the Election Fraud Response Act.

As you know, this initiative, proposed by Governor Gavin Newsom and submitted by California Democratic leaders to the electorate, responds to the new political map of Texas, which seeks to keep the nation’s Congress under Republican control.

David Ayón, Political Analyst and Researcher at the Center for the Study of Los Angeles, explains that we are currently experiencing a significant battle in the electoral arena.

David Ayón warns that what lies behind the measures that give Republicans greater leverage is the formation of an authoritarian state. Let’s listen to David Ayón, Political Analyst and Researcher at the Center for the Study of Los Angeles.

David Ayón explains the origins of Proposition 50.

He points out that we are currently experiencing a political crisis, so we must understand that what is at stake is a response to authoritarianism.

So get ready, we are already in the early voting period with vote-by-mail ballots from October 6 to November 4, 2025. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on November 4, 2025, which is Election Day.

Remember that your vote is power, and it is important that your voice is heard.

In California, every active registered voter will automatically receive a ballot by mail before each election. Check your voter registration status to ensure you receive your ballot. Use a drop box: Return your ballot to a secure drop-off location in any county up to 28 days before the election.

If you decide to vote in person, you can do so anywhere in the county up to 10 days before the election. You can also register to vote and vote on Election Day, November 4.

As I said, another option is to vote by mail. Do so and return your ballot as soon as you receive it.

Of course, if you can, exercise your right to vote and decide.
