Prepare for the threat of wildfires

By Radio Bilingüe
Published April 18, 2025

The state of California launched a new campaign to prevent and protect us from the threats of wildfires, as the California Bureau of Fire Protection warns that the fire outlook for California from April through July 2025 highlights different regional risks as the state approaches the fire season.

Ricardo Coronado, Cal Fire spokesperson, reports on the campaign they have launched in the Golden State to protect residents.

According to Cal Fire, “the likelihood of significant above-normal fires is projected to increase in Southern California from late spring through summer. A transition from La Niña to neutral conditions is expected during this period, which could reduce the predictability of fire weather, but could intensify coastal marine layer effects in some areas.”

Ricardo Coronado, comments that the campaign seeks to make people aware and prepare to stay safe.

The campaign “Prepare Now Before Fire Knocks on Your Door”, talks about defensible space, Ricardo Coronado, explains what it is all about.

Ricardo Coronado reminds residents that they can use materials that are more resistant to fire and claims that the campaign reaches out to the Latino community, which is often the most affected by these phenomena.

He notes which areas are most at risk of fire danger.

According to Cal Fire, Northern California maintains normal fire potential through May, while Southern California, particularly the South Coast, faces an increasing threat of large fires due to persistent drought and increasingly flammable fuels.
