Patrols against migrants

Community members and religious leaders in Memphis, Tennessee, met with Mayor Paul Young and Police Chief Cerelyn Davis, where attendees questioned the Memphis task force’s collaboration with ICE and the community’s feeling of vulnerability. These are some of the questions that were asked in Spanish.
Another concern raised at this meeting was the lack of protection against ICE detentions.

María Oceja, co-founder and organizer of Vecindarios 901, reported that arrests have increased since the Trump administration deployed a task force of ICE, FBI, DEA, and National Guard agents, and that they are now more focused on racial profiling.
Finally, she indicated that as an organization, they support raising awareness and informing people about migrants’ rights.
