Published September 19, 2024

If you write or sing corridos you can participate in the corrido contest organized by the Alliance for California Traditional Arts and Radio Bilingüe, a project called Sonidos de California en el Valle de San Joaquin.

The deadline to submit your corrido is October 7.

Corridos can be written in Spanish, English or other indigenous languages of Mexico, and submissions are accepted in a variety of formats, including audio or video.

Recordings can range from simple phone recordings to professionally edited files, but audio submissions must be in MP3 format.

Leticia Soto, deputy director of the California Traditional Arts Alliance, discusses who can participate.

The contest is open to people of all ages and we invite you to participate.

Leticia Soto, deputy director of the California Alliance for Traditional Arts, indicates what are the themes that can be addressed?

This is the first edition of the Corrido contest, so remember registration is now open.

Submissions will be judged by prominent cultural leaders who will be scoring the materials, so take note of the requirements, let’s hear from Leticia Soto.

Leticia Soto, deputy director of the California Alliance for Traditional Arts, tells us about the prizes you can win if you participate.

So my fellow corridista, come on out and enter.

Finalists will be celebrated at a public concert in November.

In addition to the prizes, they will be able to hear their song on Radio Bilingüe’s frequencies.

Leticia Soto, deputy director of the California Alliance for Traditional Arts says that entries can be submitted online: Official contest form on Google Forms, at actaonline.org/corrido
