Organizations ask to be prepared and united before Trump’s arrival
Following President-elect Donald Trump’s threats that he would begin deportations in the Colorado city of Aurora, a place he described as a “war zone” overrun by migrant criminals, he promised to launch the largest deportation operation, aptly named Operation Aurora.
In response to this situation, Colorado Governor Jared Polis joined Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to announce a new effort called Governors Safeguarding Democracy to combat threats from the federal level.

She says we are more prepared now than we were 8 years ago when Donald Trump governed.

She talks about what it means for the Latino community if Trump returns to the White House.
He adds that although at the national level there was this racist campaign against immigrants, however there was a lot of support at the state level for this community.

There is also an alliance of important states like Colorado or Minnesota.
It’s a challenge because the governor of the state is very libertarian and we want to know how to maintain advocacy for the community.
While he says Polis helps, but he has not had a strong message to stand up for everyone.
This message is dangerous because the right wing agenda, there is more to do to change those misconceptions.
