Noticiero Latino: Farmers do their bit to make the land and their crops stronger
We will talk in this dispatch about how small farmers face challenges due to the effects of climate change, but also about the practices they carry out to make their land and crops stronger.
Maria Ana Reyes is a woman farmer who started farming at the age of 8 and currently farms 11 acres taking advantage of projects such as the Organic Farm Incubator offered by the Land and Agricultural Training Association, ALBA in Salinas, CA.
Maria Ana Reyes talks about the effects she suffered from the pandemic and comments on her strategy to make the land more fertile.
She also shares with us the actions she is taking to eliminate pests.
She also tells us how she uses and saves water.
María Ana Reyes comments that you can learn how to do organic agriculture by making small changes that always help to make the land more resilient.
Small farmers have also done their bit to address the climate crisis and remember that they need support, as María Ana Reyes says.
This is part of the series “Cuando se seca el arroyo…” and has been made possible thanks in part to support from the Walton Family Foundation.
