Noticiero Latino: Caring for our oceans and seas
This time we will talk about the threats also facing our seas and oceans due to climate change, recently a national survey conducted by a Latino organization called Azul that protects and seeks the conservation of the sea, which reveals that there is much support for ocean justice by our Latino community.
Tomas Valadez, California Policy Associate for Azul, an environmental justice organization, comments on what Latinos said.
He also noted that Latinos are deeply concerned about the ocean and the coastal environment.
In this sense, Pastor Claudio Lapidus of Alianza Religiosa Por La Creación, Hispanic Access Foundation, talks about the survey that Hispanic Access Foundation published “Our Ocean and the Coast” which shows that the Latino community in the US understands the sea because it has been close to their lives and provides food and jobs essential to sustain human life.
In this regard, Tomas Valadez, California Policy Associate for the Azul organization, says there is also concern about overfishing.
