Millions take to the streets to make their voices heard

Recently, there have been several demonstrations and protests against President Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant policies.
As part of the national “No Kings” day, one of the largest protest days in the nation’s history, millions of people took to the streets to protest against the president’s abuses of power. Radio Bilingüe gathered some of these expressions in Fresno, California, one of the 2,700 locations where protests took place.
Ángeles, a criminologist, says she has taken to the streets because she wants to make it clear that immigrants come to work and are not criminals.
Ángeles says they want a better life, which is why her parents came here years ago.
She agrees that many Mexicans have no fines or criminal records, unlike President Trump himself.
Emilia, who is a lawyer, explains that she has the privilege of being a citizen and that is why she is fighting, because she recognizes that this is a time when our rights are at risk.
In addition, Emilia said she seeks to be a source of hope for people who are afraid.
Other people, such as Juan, a retiree, came out to show their support so that we do not lose the rights we have gained as a community.
Alex Orozco says he has come out to respond to Trump’s actions.
As the Trump administration continues its raids, more voices are rising to defend the rights of migrants. These people are confident that the more people come out, the less afraid people will be, and that those who can speak with their vote will come out and express themselves as well.
