Don Bartolito Leaves Behind an Important Legacy in Oregon – For more than 20 years, Bartolomé Mendoza Martínez worked in the agricultural fields of the northwestern state of Oregon. In addition to contributing his sweat equity to this rich agricultural area, the farmworker found time to fight for better working conditions in the fields and for political change in Mexico. Late last year, the indigenous Mixteco migrant known as Don Bartolito passed away without being able to regularize his immigration status.
