As part of National Water Week, it is important to highlight efforts that show improvements in the use, utilization, and care of this vital liquid. Such is the case of the City of Los Angeles in California, where, despite the population increasing by half a million since 1990, water consumption has been reduced by half.

Marta Segura also points out that people have done their part by reducing consumption and now have equipment that saves water, as well as policies that help raise public awareness.

Despite the progress made by the city, the goal remains to reduce imports and increase water storage. It should be noted that Los Angeles imports more than 80% of its water.

Marta Segura, director of Heat in the City of Los Angeles and director of the Office of Climate Emergency Mobilization, recalls campaigns carried out with the population such as Every Drop Counts.
