President Trump signed into law HR29/S5, the first bill of his new administration, named after a murdered Georgia nursing student whose case became a rallying cry during his campaign for the White House.

The new law known as Laken Riley calls for the detention of undocumented immigrants accused of theft and other crimes.

Raquel Lane-Arellano, communications director for the Colorado Coalition for Immigrant Rights, explains what the Laken Riley law is all about and what its impact is.

Criminalizing undocumented immigrants is dangerous and will have a negative impact,

Raquel Lane-Arellano talks about the risks of this law, especially that ICE can detain someone only if they have an accusation.

She says that due to the expected increase in detentions, those who will benefit are the prisons, since this business is managed by private companies.

The communications director of the Colorado Coalition for Immigrant Rights affirms that this law will affect the rights of immigrants, including Dreamers.
