Kamala Harris is the Democratic candidate for president.
As you know, as we get closer to the presidential election, the Latino vote is becoming more and more attractive to the candidates.
David R. Ayon, co-author of the book “Power Shift”, researcher at the Center for the Study of Los Angeles and faculty member at Loyola Marymount University, assures that Vice President Kamala Harris is the virtual Democratic candidate, and has been met with enthusiasm and support from young people and other groups of color, following President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out of the race.
Academic David Ayón explains what is happening with the Latino vote that has moved away from the Democrats.
He recalled that there have been times in the history of elections in which Latinos have favored Republicans with their vote.
However, he is confident that Latinos will now vote for Democrats because Republicans are announcing racist and anti-immigrant policies such as mass deportations.
He said that the Democratic campaign had already announced that they would mobilize in search of the Latino vote, Biden chose a Julie Chavez Rodriguez, granddaughter of legendary farm worker union leader Cesar Chavez, to lead the campaign, it is a clear sign to attract Latinos.
Remember that your vote is your power and your voice. Use it to favor those who care about you and your community.
