Biden Faces Strong Criticism for Tightening Asylum Policy – With popularity at an all-time low and three weeks away from his first debate against Donald Trump, President Biden signed a controversial executive order restricting the right of asylum for thousands of migrants. His decision divided Democrats and triggered threats of lawsuits in the courts. José López Zamorano reports from Washington.

In Historic Election, Mexico Elects Its First Female President – For the first time in history, Mexico will have a female president. Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, a scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, triumphed with the most votes of any politician before her: more than 33 million. Her party, Morena, together with its allies, also won the majority of congressional seats and seven of the nine governorships that were at stake. We bring you a report from Mexico City on this historic day.

Why Were Thousands Unable to Vote at Mexican Consulates in the United States? Thousands of Mexicans flooded the main consulates in the United States to go vote in the historic June 2 elections. Although the vast majority of the more than 180,000 eligible voters voted in advance, thousands more got up early to vote in person. However, they encountered a slow electronic voting system and such disorganization that most were unable to vote. What was the problem? Who is responsible?
