How to stop violence and homicides in Latino couples.

A recently published study revealed that in 2022 homicide was the second leading cause of death among Latinos ages 15-24, the third leading cause of death among Latinos ages 25-34, and the fourth leading cause of death among Latinos ages 1-14, and homicides related to intimate partner violence among Latinas in the U.S. shows that nearly half of violent deaths of women were perpetrated by their intimate partners.

Dr. Yanet Ruvalcaba, Researcher, Mental Health and Gender Violence, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-CDC, Co-author of the study “Intimate Partner Violence: Intimate Partner Violence-Related Homicides of Hispanics and Latinas: National Violent Death Reporting System, United States, 2003-2021,” discusses the characteristics of this scourge within Latino families.

Dr. Yanet Ruvalcaba, explains which are the definitions to determine the acts of violence.

She reveals that there is a higher incidence of this crime among Latinos.
