Fifty Years of  Mexican Folklórico Dance. Mexican folk dance groups from all over the US are meeting in Albuquerque this summer to celebrate 50 years of the Asociación Nacional de Grupos Folklóricos, a national network organized at the peak of the Chicano movement to elevate Mexico’s folk dance, music, and art traditions. In these decades, the vibrant folk dances from Souther, Central and Northern Mexico and the US Southwest have captured the hearts of generations of kids of diverse backgrounds in the US. This holiday edition features a conversation with veteran pioneers of the bailable folklórico organization on the history and the state of the Mexican cultural tradition.
