Federal government shutdown affects SNAP food assistance program

Due to the federal government shutdown and recent cuts to the Snap Program budget, millions of people in the United States could lose the food benefits provided by this food support program.

This means that 42 million Americans could be left without food, of which at least 16 million are children who, due to political decisions, cannot access food stamps.

Faced with this threat to food security, some states are suing the federal government and promising to find ways to support food banks.
