Family and friends can help in coping with maternal mental health

Monique lives in Atascadero California, she suffered from postpartum depression but thanks to her family she made it through.
Dr. Diana Ramos, Surgeon General of the State of California, reports that Monique’s case is not isolated, there are many Latinas who suffer from postpartum depression.
Monique recalls that she did not understand what was happening to her.

She tells us that it is important to identify and see the signs to support the mother if she is in a depression or is being affected by a mental health illness.
The Surgeon General of the State of California, indicates that we have to face the mental health problem and the stigmas in our community.
