Judge Suspends Draconian Texas Law Penalizing Immigrants – A federal court in Texas has temporarily suspended state law SB 4, which gives state and local police the authority to detain and put undocumented immigrants in deportation proceedings. The news was met with relief by immigrant families and activists who have been engaged in a civil resistance campaign for two weeks. Mariana Pineda has more information from Houston.
Long Covid Patients in Central Washington Need More Resources – In the northwestern state of Washington, only one clinic treats patients with long Covid. That health center is in Seattle, more than two hours away from the Yakima Valley, where large communities of Latino farm workers reside. Some say that rural patients suffering from this new disease are struggling to obtain information and services.
