Documentary “Voces Latino Vote 2024” shows diversity of Latinos and their voting preferences
As we get closer to Election Day, the Republican and Democratic campaigns to attract Latino voters are intensifying.
California’s public television networks launched a documentary called “Voces Latino Vote 2024” that shows some of the priorities of the Latino electorate in the 2024 presidential election.
It shows some of the issues that could drive Latino voter turnout in some of the most hotly contested states, such as Arizona, a state that has been transformed in recent years but used to be a Republican stronghold, as well as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, California and Florida where efforts by both political parties to reach out to the Latino electorate are intensifying. The work highlights the strength of the Latino vote that can change the direction of the nation and also highlights the importance of registering in this electoral process, especially for the 20% of first time voters.
Andres Cediel, Documentary Producer at PBS TV Network, who is one of the producers of this documentary, points out the diversity of Latinos, that we are not a block and we have different backgrounds, priorities and needs.
He reveals what they were able to capture in making this project.
In addition, he explains that Latinos cannot be spoken of as a bloc, that there is a diversity of Latinos.
