Colorado to vote on abortion amendment
In next November’s election, Colorado voters will decide on an initiative that would elevate abortion protections in the state Constitution, Amendment 79.
The proposed amendment also lifts the ban on public funding of abortion that voters approved decades ago.

In response to the criticism that the 79th amendment has faced regarding the use of tax dollars to expand state protections, America Ramirez responds.
América Ramírez, Program Director for the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights-COLOR, says the issue has been part of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ campaign, as it has excited the community.
He says many Latinos are already voting, and this issue will influence the election of other local candidates.
With this Amendment 79, the state of Colorado would cover more abortions under Medicaid and state and local governments would be able to add abortion coverage to their employees’ health insurance plans.
