California wildfire alert
This time we will talk about the latest information on the Borel fire in the state of California that started on Wednesday, July 24 after a car left Highway 178 through the Kern River Canyon and caught fire, the driver unfortunately lost his life.
Because of the car fire, the fire began to spread rapidly, so far uncontrolled, and as a result, Highway 178 remains closed.
As of this Sunday, July 28, the fire had been mapped at 49,274 acres, one of the most devastating fires.
In addition, official reports indicate that, the fire has burned its way through the historic city of Havilah, as it has razed historic properties as well as residents’ properties.
On social media, images and videos of the fire from both residents of the affected areas and authorities show the intense flames and long plumes of smoke from the Borel Fire, which continues to ravage the Kern River Valley.
Since a few days ago, authorities issued the first evacuation alert, which later became an order.
It is very important that if you are a resident of the affected area or any area at risk that you follow the evacuation orders for almost all of the city of Bodfish and the areas near Thompson Canyon, Bodfish Canyon, Walker Basin, Shadow Mountain and Rankin Ranch.
Because the fire has not been brought under control, an evacuation warning has also been issued in the Kern River Canyon and Lake Isabella areas.
The governor of the state of California, Gavin Newsom, declared a state of emergency in the areas affected by the wildfires, and the Park Fire is also in progress, which is the largest fire and has consumed more than 96,747 hectares and remains uncontrolled.
It is important to say that the emergency declaration affects Butte and Tehama counties.
Gavin Newsom affirms that it is one of the largest fires in history and thanked the thousands of firefighters who are working to extinguish the fire.
According to the latest information, more than 2,500 firefighters have been battling increasingly dry temperatures as they continue to fight the fire, which remains uncontained.
Authorities have not yet been able to confirm the number of structures burned or the damage, but said assessments are being made.
Meanwhile, thousands of people in the area remain under evacuation orders.
In this sense it is important that you follow the instructions of the authorities, to evacuate or go to the shelters that are already available especially from the Red Cross.
Remember to pack your emergency bag, with your most important documents, water and some canned food, but also medicines for first aid. If a family member is taking medication do not forget them and please listen to the radio or search on social networks for evacuation routes and shelter locations and avoid putting yourself and your families at risk.
