Beware and be informed about raids

Now that the Trump administration’s anti-immigrant policy has intensified, there are efforts by migrant rights organizations that offer informational resources on what to do in the event of an encounter with law enforcement.
For example, if you are on the street and ICE agents arrive it is important to know what to do and remember that you have rights, do not sign anything and you have the right to remain silent.
My colleague Gerardo Guzman, prepared this spot about detentions on the street and what to do if you are in that situation.
There have also been reports of raids by immigration authorities at workplaces,
Although this happens, it is important to remember your rights.
Let’s listen to this spot prepared by my colleague Gerardo Guzmán about these types of raids in the workplace.
Thanks to my colleague Gerardo Guzmán and remember that the Mexican government has also sent recommendations to Mexican nationals so that they know what documents to bring and what not to bring.
Before an ICE raid, it is recommended not to have information that reveals your country of origin, falsified identity documents or documents with a false immigration status.
You should know that these recommendations are intended to reduce the risk that the authorities use this information against the detained person during an immigration or criminal process.
These are the rights of migrants in case of detention in the US.
Right to remain silent. The right not to allow a search of your person, home or belongings without a warrant. Right to communicate with your consulate. Right to request an attorney and make a call within the first few hours of detention. Right not to sign documents they do not understand, especially if they are in English, without the advice of an attorney.
