Latino Municipal Leaders Demand Federal Funds for Infrastructure – Municipal representatives from across the country recently visited Washington to share their challenges and initiatives while requesting federal infrastructure funds. Among the most pressing demands of prominent Latino leaders were safety on their streets, the high cost of housing, increased traffic and pollution. Will Florida Workers Be Left Unprotected from Extreme Heat? – Florida lawmakers passed a law last month that prevents local governments from enacting measures to protect outdoor workers during days of extreme heat. The state’s Republican majority passed the ban despite the fact that every year, heat waves continue to break records and affect not only the health of workers, but also the economy. As a last resort, opponents are asking Republican Governor Ron DeSantis to veto the measure. Reporting from Miami, Diana Montaño brings us the voices of those affected.
