Jose Rolando Villarreal

Jose Rolando Villarreal, J.D., was born and raised in Coahuila, Mexico. At the age of eight, he and his family immigrated to the US, working as farm workers across several states and eventually settling in San Jose, CA. Villarreal went on to graduate from San José State University and University of Santa Clara Law School, also attending numerous executive leadership courses at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Villarreal was the chief public defender of Fresno County for eight years and Santa Clara County for ten. He is a former Mayor of the City of Sanger, CA, former Board Chairman of the California Rural Legal Assistance Program, and former adjunct professor at Fresno State University.
